May 5 – BistroMD Dinner

Beef Bourguignon with cauliflower puree – this was probably the best meal I have had since starting the program. 340 calories. The quality of the beef was very good, the small onions were sweet. The cauliflower puree was excellent, though I wish there had been a little bit more of it.

Very satisfying. I also added my second fruit of the day to the meal, which will help keep me satisfied I think. Now just to get through the evening with no more snacks…

May 5 – Bistro MD – Afternoon Snack 2

Crunch O’s – 12 grams of protein. 130 Calories.

They are very light, very barbecque- y. They could definitely fill a chips craving. The back of the package also notes there is a Sour Cream & Onion Flavor. Sort of an odd aftertaste after eating about a quarter of the bag, and then tend to stick to my teeth.

Still good though – exceptionally crunchy, and leaves the taste buds with a small “burn”. It took me about 30 minutes to finish it. A similar bag of chips would have taken me 5 minutes.

Btw, they look giant, but are about the size of Cheerios on steroids.

May 5 – Bistro MD – Breakfast

Today’s breakfast was Buckwheat berry pancakes and canadian bacon. I was really looking forward to this meal last night. I was still a bit peckish when I went to sleep, and I woke up the same way.

The meal wasn’t bad. I think I may have overcooked it slightly because the pancakes were a bit dry even with the berries on top. The Canadian bacon was a little too grisly in spots to be completely enjoyable. It was also a bit sad that I had to leave a few bites on the plate, but I didn’t want to eat gristle. For 330 calories, I think I’d rather have a Spinach and Mushroom omelet like yesterday’s breakfast.

Also had a snack of Dole single serving peaches in Juice and Breakstone’s 100 Calorie Cottage Cheese for a snack around 10:30.

May 4 – After Dinner Snack

After dinner snacks – 4oz Oikos Original Greek Yogurt Chocolate and a small snack cup of pears in their own juice.

Daily totals from MyFitnessPal.com. The protein total is a bit lower than I’d like, but only by 10 or so grams.

May 4 – Bistro MD Meals – Dinner

And, the last meal of the day – Lasagna Rollettes.

It was like getting 2 weight watchers lasagna dinners plus a small amount of vegetables. More cheese filling – still very good. I was tempted to add some salt to the veggies, but the lasagna was salty enough. Another 400 calories.

May 4 – Bistro MD Meals – Afternoon Snack 2

So, even though my intention was to stay firmly the plan today, I noticed I was still hungry after lunch and snacks.  I knew the plan is for about 1200 calories, and other nutritionists I’ve worked with have estimated my food should be between 1800-2300 calories based on my weight.

I haven’t lost at those levels, but didn’t want to stress out about hunger. So, after talking with the Bistro MD nutritionist, I am now adding 1 additional protein snack plus 2 servings of fruit per day.

For my afternoon snack – I had one reduced fat string cheese and an apple. Right at the 150 calorie mark! (Yes, no pics for this one. Sorry! :)).

May 4 – Bistro MD Meals – Lunch

For lunch, I was scheduled to have a “California Inspired” Wrap kit. It came with an artichoke side salad. Out of all the meals sent this week, I was least enthusiastic about it. After trying it, I was very pleased and wouldn’t mind having it sent my way again. 400 calories, very flavorful.

Although, the wrap itself had holes in it from being folded, so creating a wrap from the contents was just not reasonable. California Inspired “Wrap” kit might have been a better name for it.
